Our Cuisine Our Cuisine

A four-course chef’s menu which changes with each passing day, evolving with the Estate’s ever-growing bounty.

Led by produce picked fresh from the Lodge’s own Potager Garden and Orchard, Otahuna’s cuisine is a symphony of seasonal New Zealand harvests. Dinner here is dinner redefined.
Savour a chef’s four-course meal in your own secluded space within Otahuna. For overnight guests, Dinner is all part of the experience. And for outside visitors, we set aside never more than a table or two each night. Making this an evening of the finest fine dining, reserved for just a fortunate few.

Executive Chef

JIMMY MCINTYRE JIMMY MCINTYRE

Having joined the property in 2004, Jimmy is the longest-serving lodge chef in New Zealand and is credited with developing one of the country’s most unique food and wine programmes.  Jimmy oversees Otahuna’s celebrated “potager-to-plate” philosophy, which makes use of some 125 different varieties of organic fruits, mushrooms, nuts and vegetables grown annually in the Lodge’s own century-old gardens.

In his time here, Jimmy has cooked for monarchs, heads of state, the world’s leading media and, perhaps most importantly, so many who have come to see how confident New Zealand’s cuisine has become. And just how purposeful and delicious food can be when it’s harvested and raised metres away from the kitchen in which it is prepared.

Today, you’ll find Jimmy still leading from the front, shepherding the most caring brigade of chefs anywhere, and introducing each course personally to guests…much as he did when he started at Otahuna more than two decades ago.
