Akaroa

Originally settled by French immigrants, Akaroa is a picturesque seaside town that has retained many of its 19th century public buildings and cottages.

Christchurch

The South Island’s largest city is home to nearly 400,000 residents and offers a host of historic and cultural points of interest, compelling parks and gardens and kilometres of dramatic coastline.

Cooking Class

A hands-on cooking lesson with Executive Chef Jimmy McIntyre or a member of his team provides an enjoyable overview of the philosophies behind the Lodge’s celebrated food and wine programme.

Fly-Fishing

Canterbury’s rivers provide excellent chances for both the novice and expert fly-fisherman to test their skills.

Gardens

Guests may visit a number of renowned local gardens on their own or with a guide who can provide access to several gardens not usually open to the public.

Golf

Excellent golfing is available throughout the region from the nearby nine-hole country course at Tai Tapu to the internationally acclaimed resort course at Clearwater.

Heli-Touring

A scenic flight by helicopter is the ultimate way to see the natural beauty of New Zealand with helicopters departing directly from the Lodge’s Great Lawn.

Hiking & Biking

Canterbury’s diverse landscape offers an array of trails for walking and biking through volcanic hills, native forests, and along the Pacific Ocean.

Massage

Otahuna Lodge offers therapeutic massage in a contemporary studio set within the Lodge's Woodlands.

Otahuna Garden Tour

A guided tour with Head Gardener Steve Marcham or a member of his team illuminates both the rich history of Otahuna’s 30-acre garden and its continued modern-day restoration.

Swimming Pool

Otahuna’s Swimming Pool is located on the east side of the homestead, enjoying full sun from early morning until late afternoon.

TranzAlpine Train

Embark on one of the world’s greatest train journeys, the TranzAlpine, which traverses the South Island’s majestic landscapes, arriving into Arthur's Pass National Park.
